The Thinking Viking will keep this short.  I was telling my roommate last night to remember the last CA governors race – Meg Whitman paid for her bid for the office, out of her own pocket, and made a very public point of this fact – that she was “not beholden to special interest” – that her campaign, being self financed, was free from undo influence.  But that backfired, people in California  realized that she was in effect, buying the governorship and voters rejected this idea.  The details may be different with tonight’s presidential election,  but the “big money” bit was very much there, and  I think we just saw this happen at a national level.

Think about it.
